I love that image ... and generally agree. AI runs best on content we've created. So write everyday in your own language and build a knowledge base for your AI. That will get you way better results.
But ... I believe you can use AI and be authentic, but its an art ... just like writing.
I've examined my own thoughts on authenticity in other posts, and I can summarize it like this: what makes your content authentic is not JUST your words, it's what lies behind them. This means your thoughts, opinions, stances, experiences are what makes you truly authentic, not your "style" or your "quirks."
That’s a good way of putting it . If I generate something using AI in a smart way, then it produces something it would have never produced on its own, regardless of whether it is in my style or not.
I think the issue is that our culture has equated identity with style. Its not a thing we have … its a thing we do.
Agreed. I think also that's a big part of the reason why a lot of writers and artists are pushing back against AI, some even to the extent of not recognising them as valid mediums of expression ("AI users aren't really writers or designers"). Because they equate their style with their identity, and can't imagine any changes to the wider industry that they've hooked their identity in.
AI helps you write in topics you previously couldn't have.
The way it gives you answers to questions you would have spent 10 hrs looking for on old Google is insane. It's meant to help you speed up your work.

Thanks! And I agree.

Returning to monk apprentices that transcribed (a.k.a. “copied”) the masters seems the wrong direction to go.
It is.
