Previously, if I wanted Claude Code to work on several things at once, the workflow looked like this: open one terminal for a refactor, another to fix a bug, another to write docs. I became a human dispatcher — repeating the same background at the start of every session, then switching back every ten minutes to see who had finished and who was stuck, and going around asking each one.
At the end of July I wrote about Agent View, a local multi-session dispatch panel. At the end of August I wrote about --cloud, which parks sessions on the cloud and lets them run. Both approaches share one thing: I am still the dispatcher.
This time, Claude Code’s public-beta Projects feature hands the dispatch job itself over to the model.
What Projects actually is
One sentence: a long-lived chat window, plus a swarm of threads it sends out to do the work.
You drop work into the conversation — an error dump, a bug ticket, a list of todos. Claude decides on its own: small questions it answers in the chat; real tasks it spins up as a thread; if a thread is already touching the same place, it routes the work there. Every new thread shows up as a card in the conversation; open it, and you can watch progress.
