Optimize Claude Code with rtk: Reduce Tokens by 89% | Shidhin CR posted on the topic | LinkedIn

Most of the data we feed into Claude Code is actually redundant noise.

For example, running a test or checking a log can cause the terminal to dump hundreds of lines of verbose errors and formatting characters. A git push spits out 15 lines of boilerplate, and unit test frameworks like cargo test can vomit 200+ lines when they fail.

This kind of meaningless verbosity instantly floods the LLM’s context window. Burning tokens is one thing, but Claude Code also gets thrown off by all that irrelevant noise.

The problem is, these operations produce output that’s necessary during execution. So, is there an effective way to reduce this kind of redundant context consumption?

I recently tried out an open-source project called RTK, and the experience was excellent — it solves the problem above really well.
