On January 20, 2025, DeepSeek officially released the DeepSeek-R1 model, ushering in a new era of open-source LLMs. In Hugging Face’s recently published blog post “One Year Anniversary of the ‘DeepSeek Moment’,” DeepSeek-R1 was also noted as the most-liked model on the platform.
Now, just over a year later, DeepSeek’s new model has quietly appeared on GitHub.
In recent days, DeepSeek has pushed numerous updates to its FlashMLA code repository, and among these updates, a model named “Model1” has caught the attention of many users.
As shown in the screenshot below, this currently mysterious Model1 not only appears in code and comments but even has files that stand alongside DeepSeek-V3.2.
