As I’ve been using GPT-5.6 extensively, I’ve noticed more and more people calling for the uninstallation of Superpowers.

The objections are highly consistent: it’s prone to accidental triggers, wastes tokens, lengthens response times, and often over-engineers simple tasks. Even changing a single configuration can cause the Agent to spin up a full brainstorming session and turn a ten-minute requirement into a complete engineering project.

To everyone who has installed the Superpowers plugin in Codex: please uninstall it with one click right now. It is being called in almost every conversation because its rules explicitly state “this plugin should be prioritized at the start of every new conversation.” It consumes a massive number of tokens and currently offers little value. It’s better to use Plan Mode directly or install another skill: /grill-with-docs.

However, the supporters also make valid points. Superpowers is excellent for long-running tasks. Once the spec and validation criteria are clearly written, you don’t have to worry about the Agent running for a long time. The extra tokens and time buy a much more stable execution process.

I personally don’t think Superpowers is heavy at all. Every one of its Skills is very useful. These past few days I’ve been using the Test Driven skill, and I’m not afraid to let it run all night and produce 20k–40k lines of code.
