Just yesterday, OpenAI announced the completion of its capital restructuring and simplification of its company structure.

Specifically, the non-profit organization still controls the for-profit entity and will have direct access to substantial resources before AGI arrives.

This non-profit organization is now called the OpenAI Foundation, which holds a 26% stake in the for-profit entity (referred to as OpenAI Group below), currently valued at approximately $130 billion. The remaining 47% of shares are held by current and former employees and investors. This also makes the Foundation one of the most well-resourced charitable organizations in history.

This capital restructuring also enables the OpenAI Foundation to gain additional ownership when the for-profit entity reaches valuation milestones.
