Ollama has launched a new Web Search API, free for personal use.

Now local models can use web search more conveniently, and of course, cloud-based models can use it too.

With this API, you can directly call it or build your own search agent.

Besides this, there were previously search engine APIs like Searx, Exa, and Tavily available as options.

They also released an MCP server that can be directly plugged into existing MCP clients such as Codex, Cline, Goose, etc.

You can enable web search in any MCP client through the Python MCP server.
