Global Domination of 'XX Agent' Becoming Standard for AI Product Launches
Almost every day now, we wake up to see announcements of "World's First XX Agent" - it's becoming the standard feature for AI product launches. This Agent fever has swept through the ongoing Microsoft Build 2025 developers conference.
Throughout the entire conference, the most frequently appearing keyword wasn't AI, nor last year's protagonist Copilot, but rather Agent, Agent, and more Agent.
For Microsoft, this conference was clearly more than just a routine developer gathering. Copilot is evolving from a single product into a system-level capability hub. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella explicitly stated: "Today, we've taken another important step in our commitment to making Windows the best platform for AI."
Microsoft Adds "USB-C Port for AI Applications" to Windows
Among the many key updates announced at the conference, MCP (Model Context Protocol) received particular attention.
Originally open-sourced by AI company Anthropic last year, MCP can be simply understood as a "USB-C port for AI applications." Just as USB-C unifies physical connections between different devices, the MCP standardizes the "digital connections" for AI models to obtain information and use tools.
This allows various AI applications or intelligent Agents to more easily integrate into the Windows ecosystem, enabling them to call system resources, access files, and communicate efficiently.
Now, Windows 11 natively supports the Model Context Protocol (MCP).
The integration of MCP with Windows provides a standardized framework for AI agents to connect with native Windows applications, allowing applications to seamlessly participate in agent interactions. This feature will be opened to select partners in the coming months to gather feedback.
