Claude Skills: guida pratica e confronto con MCP - Francesco Gruner

To truly understand what Anthropic’s Skills are, we must first clarify what they are not.

Skills Are Not Just a Prompt Library

Skills represent a paradigm shift.

Our traditional approach to using AI has been improvisational. We open a chat window, write a prompt, the AI responds, and we continue asking follow-up questions.

Anthropic describes this primitive model as:

“Prompts are ephemeral, conversational, and reactive.”

The entire process is temporary, conversational, and reactive. Skills transform this improvisation into systematic accumulation.

Previously, all valuable experience and working methods would vanish when the chat window closed. Now they can be preserved and reused.

This is the essence of Skills.

Anthropic provides an example in their original documentation:

You can create a “Brand Guidelines Skill” containing your company’s color palette, font rules, and layout specifications. The next time you ask Claude to create a presentation or document, it will automatically apply these standards without requiring you to re-explain them each time.
