Last night, Moonshot AI officially released and open-sourced the Kimi K2 large model. The new model went online simultaneously with API updates, priced at $2 per million output tokens.
This release came right at the peak of the recent global wave of large model releases, following xAI's Grok 4, with Google's new Gemini and OpenAI's open-source model potentially coming next week. It seems large models have reached a new technological inflection point. Perhaps feeling the pressure from Kimi K2, Altman just tweeted a preview of his company's open-source model. However, netizens don't seem optimistic about it.
