The boots have finally dropped. After three months of uncertainty, Intel has welcomed a new helmsman.

Intel officially announced that its board of directors unanimously approved the appointment of seasoned tech leader and semiconductor industry expert Lip-Bu Tan as the new CEO, effective March 18, 2025.

He will take over the responsibilities of interim co-CEOs David Zinsner and Michelle Johnston Holthaus. At the same time, Lip-Bu Tan will also return to Intel's board of directors.

Previously, he had stepped down from the board in August last year. Notably, Lip-Bu Tan will become Intel's first-ever Chinese CEO.
