Claude Code's dominance in AI programming is undoubtedly unquestionable.
Claude Code is powerful, but it's also genuinely expensive, with the highest tier reaching $200 per month, which is no small expense. So many friends wonder if they must subscribe to the highest tier, or if the lowest $20 tier is sufficient?
Based on my two months of usage experience, the $20 subscription is completely adequate, and sometimes even more than enough.
The main reason is that I don't use it as a UI editor like Cursor, but treat it as an independent Code Agent. Instead of trying to squeeze every drop out of Claude Code, I've developed a strategy to tame it.
The first step in taming is to thoroughly read Claude Code's documentation, understanding its boundaries and basic functionality. I've previously published numerous articles detailing this, and I believe reading through them once will help you learn all its features.
