This is the era of generative large models — they can generate text, images, audio, video, 3D objects... and if we combine all these, we might get a world!

Now, whether it’s the world model that LeCun is exploring, the spatial intelligence that Li Feifei wants to conquer, or other similar concepts proposed by various research teams, there is no doubt that we are getting closer to this world.

Just a few hours ago, we took another step toward this world: CMU, in collaboration with over 20 research labs, open-sourced a generative physics engine: Genesis, which means "Genesis." From the name, it’s clear that this might truly be the starting point of a new world.

According to the project contributors, CMU Robotics Institute Ph.D. student Zhou Xian and project leader Professor Gan Chuang, who shared details on X, the project took over 2 years, with nearly 20 institutions worldwide participating in internal testing.
