Google I/O 2026: Full Firepower Unleashed!
Just now, Sundar Pichai and Demis Hassabis took the stage together and dropped every major feature they’d been holding back for the past six months.
There was never any doubt — tonight’s biggest star is Gemini Omni, officially unveiled!
As a truly “omnipotent” large model, Omni can accept any form of input and generate any type of output. It also launches with native video generation support, earning it the nickname “the video version of Nano Banana.”
Another highlight of the evening belongs to Gemini 3.5 Flash. In nearly every benchmark, 3.5 Flash has decisively surpassed its previous flagship sibling, Gemini 3.1 Pro. Its output speed has also doubled, making it over 4× faster than GPT-5.5 and Claude Opus 4.7.
The even more powerful 3.5 Pro will be released next month.
In addition, a wave of major new products was unveiled:
Antigravity 2.0: A brand-new standalone desktop app that evolves from an IDE into a full Agent development platform.
Gemini Spark: A personal AI agent that runs 7×24h in the cloud.
Gemini App redesign (codename: Neural Expressive), now switching to compute-based billing.
AI Ultra subscription adds a new $100 tier; the top tier drops from $250 to $200.
Google Search’s biggest upgrade in 25 years, powered by 3.5 Flash, with a new intelligent search bar, auto-generated mini apps, and more.
Without exaggeration, this I/O has the highest density of substantial announcements in Google’s history.
