Over the past year, AI Agents have been a major trend. General-purpose frameworks like LangChain, Dify, and n8n have made it much easier for models to connect with tools, workflows, and plugins.

However, once you enter the financial domain, problems arise. Investment research is not a simple “ask a question, get an answer” process—it is a long, complex chain of tasks.

What a researcher truly needs to do is not just ask “What do you think of NVIDIA?” but to track earnings reports, announcements, market data, valuations, capital flows, industry chains, and macroeconomic variables. They must turn data into charts, charts into judgments, and judgments into reports—and then continuously update those views when new data emerges.

Such tasks come with several hard constraints:

  • Numbers cannot be guessed by large models; they must be recalculatable.

  • Processes cannot be lost; they must be traceable.

  • Intermediate files, charts, models, and assumptions must be preserved.

  • Long-running tasks cannot fail simply because the context window is full or the browser disconnects.

  • Tool calls must have proper permissions, keys, sandboxes, and human confirmation.

  • In institutional settings, deployment, auditing, compliance, and data isolation must also be considered.
