There are now better alternatives to the Codex App’s handy browser plugins.
ego is essentially a Chromium-based browser. The interface and usage habits are no different from Chrome — bookmarks, extensions, and browsing history all work as usual.
Its main pitch is letting agents like Claude Code and Codex work directly in the browser environment you already use every day, without having to go through CAPTCHAs and two-factor authentication all over again.
Agents can create their own workspaces inside ego to run tasks. Each workspace is dedicated to one thing and doesn’t interrupt your existing browsing. You don’t need those agent-browser plugins that create a pile of related tab groups.
After using ego, I completely uninstalled my previous agent-browser and Playwright MCP.
