What makes it more interesting is the official framing. The team says this release is first meant to verify that the capabilities of the Claude Code Mods API are roughly a subset of what the DeepSeek Harness plugin system can already do.

In plain terms: the capabilities you just opened up, this plugin architecture can also carry.

To understand the update, though, it helps to rewind a bit.

A couple of days ago, Claude Code introduced Mods. Anyone who has played games knows the idea. A mod lets you install a module, change the interface, add features, or even alter how the game plays.
