The name is straightforward and punchy: DeepSeek-TUI. The author describes himself as a “whale brother” (DeepSeek enthusiast). Just recently, the project’s star count surged to 3k, and it hit the GitHub Trending list.
This is a TUI (Terminal User Interface) programming tool written in Rust. It runs in the terminal like Claude Code but is specifically optimized and adapted for DeepSeek.
Author Hunter Bown even used DeepSeek to translate his promotional tweet into Chinese.
After DeepSeek-TUI exploded in popularity on GitHub as he had hoped, Hunter posted a picture saying these had been the craziest two days of his life and thanked the “whale brothers” in Chinese.
