Claude Code already has Tetris running inside it. Not in a separate game window — the game appears directly in the Claude Code UI.
Early this morning, Claude Code lead Boris Cherny announced on X that Claude Mods are starting to land. The community has already used the new mechanism to build a Tetris Mod that runs inside Claude Code.
It looks like a fun demo. The change behind it is much bigger. With Mods, developers can more deeply change Claude Code’s behavior and interface — for example, intercept a tool call, inspect it, and modify it; or add new interactive components to Claude Code. Going further, users can even tell Claude what they want changed and have Claude help write the corresponding Mod.
In other words, Claude Code is opening more and more of its own capabilities as programmable interfaces. That does not mean Claude can modify its own model weights, nor that it can freely rewrite Claude Code’s core program. What it does is closer to this: within the extension boundary Anthropic has opened, Claude can help users generate, test, and load plugins that change its own behavior.
And this mechanism is likely to become the most important architectural change to watch in Claude Code next.
