WWDC26 has just wrapped up, and Anthropic has dropped a major bombshell — Claude is now officially integrated into Apple’s Foundation Models framework. iOS and macOS developers can now use the same API to seamlessly switch between on-device models and Claude’s cloud-powered brain.

Previously, integrating Claude into your app meant manually handling HTTP requests, streaming responses, JSON parsing, and a bunch of tedious boilerplate code.

Now, Anthropic has released an official Swift package called ClaudeForFoundationModels. It makes Claude fully conform to Apple’s LanguageModel protocol, so you can call it using LanguageModelSession — exactly the same way you call local models.

This move is Claude actively joining the Apple ecosystem.

What is this package?

ClaudeForFoundationModels is an official Swift Package from Anthropic. Its core purpose is simple: turn Claude into a “server-side language model provider” within Apple’s Foundation Models framework.

When writing SwiftUI apps, you can now call Claude exactly the way you call Apple’s built-in on-device models. The API is 100% consistent, giving developers zero additional mental overhead.
