I Put Up With Screen Flicker for Half a Year. One Command Fixed It.

Let me start with what my daily routine used to look like.

When I ran a moderately large task in Claude Code and tool output came pouring down the screen, the terminal would start acting up: the display flickered, and when I scrolled up to re-read an earlier analysis, it would snap back to the bottom on its own. Once I stared at a rolling stream of logs for ten minutes trying to spot an error, my eyes chasing the jumping text, I only managed to read it by stopping the output with Ctrl+C.

At first I assumed iTerm2 was the culprit. I switched to tmux, changed terminal themes, and even suspected my machine was just too old. After all that fiddling, I finally figured out that the problem lay in Claude Code’s rendering method, and that it ships with its own fix.
