Siri Integrates In-House AI Search, Coming as Early as March Next Year
Apple is developing its own AI search!
Apple plans to launch its in-house AI search tool "Answer Engine" in spring next year.
According to insiders, this new system, internally codenamed "World Knowledge Q&A," will be integrated into Siri and later expanded to Safari web browser and iPhone's main screen search tool Spotlight.
The functionality operates similarly to ChatGPT, Google Search's AI Overviews, and other AI search applications, with core technology based on large language models. Gurman revealed that this feature will collaborate with Google's Gemini model.
It's worth noting that Google pays Apple huge fees annually to maintain its position as Safari's default search engine. Apple's launch of in-house AI search will undoubtedly divert Google Search's "gateway" traffic.
Google isn't naive either. Apple's development of AI search is inevitable. Since it's destined to impact Google Search, rather than let other AI search products grab "this piece of the pie," it's better to keep control in their own hands.
