In the AI era, if you are a dishwasher, it might be more fortunate than being a computer science honor student.

Last month, Microsoft released a "list of jobs most likely and least likely to be replaced," and the result was: blue-collar workers smiled, white-collar workers cried.

Those white-collar elites sitting behind comfortable office desks seem to feel the chilling winds that AI is sending their way.

The Microsoft team analyzed 200,000 conversation datasets between users and Microsoft Bing Copilot, and used this data to create an "AI applicability score" for various positions.

The results showed that the positions at the top of the list, most likely to be replaced by AI, were surprisingly all white-collar positions, including interpreters, historians, customer service and sales representatives, and copywriters.

In contrast, the occupations least likely to be replaced by AI automation were all blue-collar positions, including heavy machinery and motorboat operators, domestic cleaners, roofers, massage therapists, and dishwashers.

In the medical industry, phlebotechnicians and nursing assistants were also considered relatively safe.
