The current narrative of “AI threatening employment” is more of a warning based on technological trends rather than an established reality, but this is by no means a reason to underestimate AI’s long-term impact.

Recently, the narrative of “AI causing human unemployment” has been rampant, casting an additional shadow over already anxious workers.

Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei predicts that white-collar employment will face an “apocalypse,” stating that “AI could massively replace entry-level white-collar jobs within the next five years, with unemployment rates potentially soaring to between 10% and 20%, especially in industries such as law, finance, and consulting.”

The CEO of Goodwill stated that he is preparing for an AI-driven wave of Gen Z unemployment and believes that the youth unemployment crisis has already occurred.

Stability AI co-founder Emad Mostaque claims that massive unemployment will emerge next year. “AI can complete complex tasks without errors, which will put many jobs at risk of replacement. The unemployment problem will affect multiple industries simultaneously and may intensify within the next one to two years.”
